Literature Text

"So the day finally arrived." I said to myself walking through the doors leading into the Alchemist barracks. The place was adequate looking for my taste. It just seemed such a waste to only provide the meager of accommodations for someone such as myself that has a perfected art, no not just an art, science. Science was everything and people needed to know that. All these backwater people along the way here claiming it was some kind of magic. Magic is for children to make them sleep better. But everyone here knew better, if you were going to survive in this world, science was going to be the reason.

I came to the door matching the simple 2 digit number on my entry form and decided to step in. Unlocked... that was not a good sign. Even the most basic of hotels keeps the doors locked till the guest arrived. What was to prevent someone from just waltzing in here and disturb the area that was clearly mine and mine alone. Already I was told that no one was assigned as a roommate for me. Part of me still feels a twinge of disappointment over the news. Not that I wanted to be around anyone or be stuck living with another, but if one was forced upon me, then I would have to make the best of it right? Still not having someone permanent was preferable. I could stay up late, work on calculations whenever I needed too, bring whom ever I could sneak in for the night and have the place to myself the next day. Yeah I think alone is best. No one really had met any of my criteria for spending time with me anyway...right?

Unpacking took surprisingly little time to the time I spent packing it. But I made sure each thing was properly proportioned so that it was snug and easily removed. Science in all things and I was its queen. Seeing as the privacy curtain was completely a formality at this time, I figured I could use it as a shield for my research, in case somehow prying eyes made it into my room. Surely after they realize how much of a catch I am there will be plenty of suitors.

I pulled the mattress off the bed and laid it up. It was not a board, but it would do in a pinch if I needed to hang things. Which is what needs to happen now.
The next hour.. maybe more I lost track, I was hanging notes and formulas. Most of them were the building blocks of understanding the magnetic signature of the things I could move with my power. Soon, there will just be a wall of it, I just cannot wait!
The idea of being able to control things with magnetic fields is just exciting. Nothing is more perfect than being able to control the field that holds everything together or apart. So befitting someone like me would hold that power.

My moment was ruined with the loud noises coming from the hall. Clearly the simpler people were arriving. No shame. I would be lying if I didn't say I wanted to go out there see whom was worthy of my time, but in such a place like this would make that tough. I'll do it later on my time. For now, research and I locked the door.

Ezria, what can I say than she is quite sure of herself. <3

Assignment 1. "Home Sweet Home."
Draw or write about your character arriving in the barracks. It's noisy, smelly and the beds creak, but it's yours now! You get some time off before training starts to store your things and meet your bunkmates or neighbours.
  • Unfair but true: the alchemists have larger and more luxurious rooms than the military class! Alchemists have their own separate beds rather than bunk beds, and a desk and closet each, and a screen they can draw up in between for some privacy.
  • Are you unsure of who your roommate is? Check out this journal: Roommates
  • Reward: 1 Credit.
